Accommodations and Lifestyle

We welcome newcomers to our farm on pre-designated orientation days.  This has proven to be most effective for integrating you into our community and for building strong friendships.  Inquire regarding the orientation days for the coming season.

Our lifestyle is communal in that we share the activities that support what we do - food preparation, clean-up, herbal and wellness learning, and logistics for educational and farm activities.  Community consenus of those present and may create a structured plan or for menues to be determined on the fly.  During the past few seasons, those here choose to do breakfast on their own with lunch and dinner prepared and shared together.

We all participate fully in a farming immersion lifestyle, 6 hours/day 5 days/week.  The remainder of the day is allocated for study, research, reflection, and personal time.  Weekends may continue in research, reflection, rest, and relaxation; however, getting off the farm and enjoying our amazing surroundings is strongly encouraged.  At times, when tourist season is at full flow, we may swap out workdays to work on the weekend and take some weekdays off. Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and Saturday mornings, we may choose to go to local farmers ' markets.

Wednesdays from 1-6 pm, the farm is open for tours and farm sales in our apothecary.  We will be serving an new herbal beverage each week for staff and customers.

Your lifestyle here includes both an indoor and an outdoor shower with heated water, an old fashioned wringer washing machine and clothes line for laundry in addition to a traditional laundry room with washer and dryer. We have a communal farm kitchen and open air and covered outdoor eating areas.  To modernize the rustic nature of this venue, there is a coffee maker, rice cooker, crock pot, toaster oven, cell phone reception and wi-fi (use of cell phones and wi-fi is restricted to personal time).

During the summer months, June - September, most elect to sleep in a personal tent (provided by us).  For the colder shoulder season we have one room dedicated to an apprentice and two rooms with bunkbeds available.

Our extensive library is available for your use.
